XCR 24 Round 10 Tan Relay Race Wrap

This year we seem to have been hit by more rain than other years and the Tan was in keeping with the theme, as well as being surprisingly cold.

There were as usual many great individual results and team results and highlight for the day included the 6th win for the season for Premier Men, a fourth place result for the Premier Women and of course the presentation at the end of the race for the Open Men’s Premiership.  Thanks to all those who ran, especially to those who backed up from the half marathon just 6 days earlier!   Thanks to the help on the Day from Janice, Brenda, Ben Mudie, Stu and Burkie.  Special thanks to Alistair McDonald who filled in as our AV Helper.

Open Men

It was icing on the cake for Premier team with a win at the Tan, another first for the club.  Will Lewis led out the team and was in fine form with a PB and our fastest, finishing in10 minutes and 51 seconds.  Then Zayd Al Sayd took over handing to Abdi Haji Ali then Cody Shanahan, who put the team in front, and from there it was in the bag with Ben Chamberlain and Liam Cashin holding out in first place.  In the men’s Div 3 we were 10th, the Div 5 was 11th and the Div 6 6th.  A great effort to field four full teams.

Open Women

Solid number across the women’s division as well as the addition of four juniors saw some good results.  Best result of the day was from our Premier Women’s team and it was U18 Lucy Cleveland to lead the team and she posted the fastest time and a club Tan record of 13 minutes and 13 seconds.  Next was Claire Hodgart then the U14 Abby Bassos (possible U14 club record), Sophie McMinimee and Ebony Dodemaide finishing with the team in 4th place.  The Div 3 was 5th and as a results will move ahead of Waverly into 5th on the ladders.  The Div 4 was 7th and will slide back into 3rd place on the ladder and the Div 5 was 6th.  Thanks to juniors Sofia Mbote (U16) and Eric Charleston (U20) supporting our Div 4 and Div 5 teams respectively.

Juniors

Going into the final round there was only one point separating the Essendon team from our U18s but unfortunately, despite the boys all running PBs, they could not catch Essendon and in the end they were third place.  Jackson Wright, Aiden Muscat and Alex Cameron – Smith were in the first team and our second team was Armeet Dhaliwal, Steven Morgan and Emerson Arnold which was 7th.  Well done to the boys for filling two full teams in virtually every round this season.

The U14 women’s team of Maddi Hall, Ella McDonald and Ava Sherratt was 5th and will finish the season in second place.  Another great seasonal effort with almost every round having a full team.
