AVSL 2021 Round 3 Wrap

AVSL 2021 Round 3 Wrap

For the first time we had Zone A & B, competing at the one venue, Lakeside and things went smoothly.

We had 40 athletes competing, with 8 athletes in 2 events and 15 athletes in 3 or more events. Thank-you to Ruby, Nina, Sarah, Summer H, Emily, Honour, Liz, Brenda, Janice, Ben H, Jackson, Jacob, Carl, Matthew M, Oscar, Jeeva, Kaelan, Mal, Mafi, Alan B, Blair, Phil and Stan for competing in more than one event.

We finished 1st, our highest finish of the season, an excellent result given there were no distance events besides the walk. We were just 149 points ahead of Wyndham, which underlines the value of every performance. Congratulations to all involved.

On provisional results, after three rounds, our consistent performance puts us on top of the Division 2 Ladder with 26 points, from Sandringham on 23 pts, Bendigo Harriers 22 pts, KSB on 21 pts, Ballarat Harriers 15pts, Mornington, Eureka & St Bendigo on 14 points each, Wyndham on 13 pts and Ringwood on 3 pts.

Our top ten points scorers were: Stan 1181, Carl 1058, Alan B 1042, Mafi 1009, Emily 966, Phil 957, Honour 943, Liz 919, Blair 890 and Sarah 857.

We would love to hear if you got a PB by posting it on our facebook site. Remember to check your results with AV via the Results Hub well before 5pm on the Monday.

Please let the Club know if you break a Club record. Congratulations Mafi on setting new club records for U14 shot put with a put of 15.13m and U14 Hammer with a throw of 53.45m.

Thank-you to Vijay S. Krishnan (Jeeva), Brad & Blair Ganley, Glen Baker-Mayer, Tevita Haunga (Mafi), Jo Francken and Janice Hodgart for completing Club Duties at Shot Put. Thank-you to Mal for lap scoring the 2km walk.

We aim to play our Power Play this week. We will get double ladder points for this round, so we need to get lots of athletes entered, with many of them competing in 2 or 3 individual events and a 4 x 400m relay if possible. If you haven’t yet competed this season we would love to see you out there in our colours. If you’re uncertain, please talk with your coach about what you can realistically do.

The Zone A venue is Keilor and the events there are: 1500m & 3km walk, long hurdles, 200m, 800m, 3000m, 4 x 400m relays, HJ, TJ, SP and Hammer.

The events at Knox are: walk, short hurdles, 100m, 1500m, 3000m, 400m, LJ, Discus and Jav.

Entries for Round 3 are open and close at noon on Wednesday. Please register as soon as possible, so that we know who is competing and can confirm our Power Play.

Early in December we will allocate duties to families, who have not yet completed 2 x 1 hr timeslots for Club Duties, so please get in early so that you can choose the rounds and timeslots that suit you to help. No skills are needed and the duty can be done by yourself, a friend or a parent. You can fill the duty roster online document/d/1x-q_ 7iqkf9gFIhAiRlTOPMVUCwbGrDNCVE kCfUrp6WY/edit?fbclid= IwAR3f5hoRmRVwlbEUgipp1psRAmuK MNjoBCyI8D4lWjnvnAOyDdh- Q22ZBIE  or email me the preferred date(s) and times.
