Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Jack Rayner

Tokyo 2020 Olympics: Jack Rayner

It was an incredible effort just to get there, Jack! Unfortunately a stress reaction in his femur forced Jack Rayner to withdraw during the marathon at Tokyo 2020 in Sapporo.

Shout out to Jack’s teammates in the race; Liam Adams (24th, 2:15:51) and Brett Robinson (66th, 2:24:04) - the green and gold battled valiantly in tough conditions!

From Jack himself: "For anyone wondering what it’s like to start a marathon after missing a month of training, it’s not fun (Stress reaction in femur). Olympic debut plus first and hopefully last race I’ll ever pull out of. Thanks for all the messages of support!!"

A credit for still getting out there and having a crack! You're an Olympian and we know you’ll be back, Jack - wishing you all the best with your recovery!
