Important Information - COVID-19 - Club training suspended

Dear Members,

As you would be aware the Australian government has announced Stage 2 measures for coronavirus last night. This introduces further rules and restrictions to reduce the spread of the virus.

https://www.pm.gov.au/media/update-coronavirus-measures-24-March-2020

The key message is: "Australians should stay at home, unless shopping for essentials, travelling to and from work - where you cannot work from home, going to school and exercising. Keep visitors to your home at a minimum. In outdoor spaces do not congregate in groups."

Further businesses and activities will be prohibited from midnight tonight with Social based sporting activities included in that list.

During the Prime Minister's statement he advised it is ok to go out and exercise on your own or with a family member. However you should not be going out in groups.

Given the above changes we have no choice but to suspend Western Athletics club training at our venues including the Werribee Track (Victoria University Sporting Complex, Hoppers Lane, Hoppers Crossing), Sassella Park (119 Station Road, Deer Park) and any pack runs.

It is still ok to exercise and go for runs on your own, please contact your coach who may provide further advice on how and where to train.

Please stay safe, follow the rules and stay up to date with information from the Australian Government (https://www.australia.gov.au/), Victorian Government (https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus) and Athletics Victoria (http://athsvic.org.au/2020/generalnews/frontpage/covid-19-everything-you-need-to-know-from-athletics-victoria/).

If you have any questions you can contact our club president Peter Cashin or other members of the committee at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Look forward to seeing everyone again soon once the situation settles.

Regards,
Western Athletics Committee
