AV Shield competition - Round 4 update

In round 4 Western Athletics were represented at at least 3 different venues with photos coming in from Ringwood, Doncaster and Geelong athletics tracks.

Notable performances

We have had a number of club records broken already across the first few rounds of Shield competition.

Heath Beveridge has set new records in 1500m, 2000m and 3000m walks breaking his previous times. In Round 3, Yara Taylor broke a 21 year old club record in for U16 in javelin, as well as breaking the record for U17 and U18 age groups. Round 4 saw Dale Masini set a new 50+ record in Shot Put with a throw of 8.5m.

Team standings


Our Open women drop from 3rd to 4th however are still in the running, very close behind KSB on 31 ladder points. Our 40+ women pick up a position going from 2nd to 1st. The U18 women have a clear lead 4 ladder points ahead of Essendon. The U16 team are in an extremely close 2nd position, only 53 points behind Essendon (equal ladder points).


The Open Men remain in 2nd place not far behind Melbourne Uni. Our U18 men a well ahead of the competition in 1st place. While our U16 team have gone from 2nd to 3rd place this round, however the competition is close with KSB and Essendon in 1st and 2nd places.
